I’ve always tried to avoid vegetarian/vegan-based establishments (I don’t think they consume enough protein to make good decisions) however; Ola Juice Bar has changed my opinion. Now that I’m deep in the white community, I felt it was time to see what “acai bowls” were all about. So wandered into this little shop right in downtown Colorado Springs to see if they lived up to the hype.
For those of you who are not as pasty as myself and wondering “what the F is an acai bowl?” Let me break it down for you: Acai bowls are made from frozen acai berries mixed with almond milk, granola, fruit, peanut/almond butter and various topping i.e. honey, chocolate chips or coconut. Basically all the food your food eats. That being said, in my opinion, I thought it was greatest thing I’ve discovered since smoothies. (white girl AF)
All the ingredients are incredibly fresh and it’s the perfect amount for a good lunch that won’t give you the itis. I went with Estelles bowl which consisted of strawberries, bananas, almond butter, honey and chocolate chips. Since I’m on a mission to keep up with all these incredibility fit mountain people, I think Ola will become a regular stop with me.

I am glad to hear you have changed your mind about a vegan/vego restaurant. There really are some good ones out there. Good post.
Yes, I’ve honestly gone there for lunch at least once/twice a week since I tried it!
I’m a vegetarian and have yet to try an acai bowl! I’m out of the loop and now craving one of these beauties! Thanks for sharing.
