Game of the Week
1 Alabama (-7) vs 3 Florida State
This is a HUGE matchup that everyone should be pumped for. We have two great coaches leading top defenses that are also returning sophomore quarterbacks. When it comes to QB play Francois wins hands down but when we look at the running game Bama takes the cake. Combine that with better O-line play and I give Bama the edge here. I think its close but at the end the Tide walk away with a 10 point win.
11 Michigan (-4.5) vs 17 Florida
So we have all heard that Michigan lost EVERYONE on defense which I am not necessarily buying. Gary is back who wasn’t technically a starter and they played about 20 guys in their rotation last season which is always understated. What we do know is that Florida has 10 guys suspended which includes offensive starters Callaway and Scarlett. That is a big deal when you are breaking in a new QB. Couple that with Speight returning as the starter for Michigan and I’m taking the Wolverines by 14. Oh and I’m taking the shirtless milk chugger Harbaugh over the “alleged” bare assed shark wrangler McElwain all day every day.
LOVE the Mountaineers here on Sunday night catching 4 points. Virginia Tech is breaking in a new QB but WVU will be lead by Will Grier (assuming he doesn’t get drug tested before kickoff) who hasn’t played in 2 years but when he did he was a stud. It will probably be a sloppy game to start and will be close at the end but West Virginia hangs on late to win by 6.
23 Texas (-19) vs Maryland
I will be firmly cemented in my sectional for this game tomorrow because I can’t wait to see what Tom Herman comes out with. Shane Buchele was impressive last year at times and should improve under Herman. I actually see Maryland jumping out to an early lead but they let it slip away in the second half and lose by 10 down in Austin. Big first win for Herman with a sneaky opponent in Maryland. Wide eyes full hearts can’t lose…also your piss better be crystal clear fellas. Hook em.
Notre Dame (-18.5) vs Temple
Brandon Wimbush gets his debut against Temple which is kind of ideal considering that they usually open up with a Power 5 team. If Matt Rhule was still at Temple this game would really scare me but with a new head coach I am comfortable that even with a slow start we can recover and win this game. ND returns a lot of solid starters on both sides of the ball which will help Brian Kelly because this is a make or break year for him. Anything short of 9 wins and he could be a goner and I wouldn’t be able to blame Notre Dame. You can forgive last year but a mediocre season isn’t going to cut it. Notre Dame takes this one at home but only by 13 points. A good warm up game before they bring Georgia into South Bend next week.
Population your money going down the drain. Every week I will give my top 5 picks which will include 4 games straight up and a 6 point teaser. If you are smart you bet against all of my picks because I am notoriously terrible at gambling. Follow that advice and you will be a thousandaire in no time. Now lets get these picks rockin.
Against The Spread
WEST VIRGINIA (+4) vs Virginia Tech
MICHIGAN (-4.5) vs Florida
LOUISVILLE (-25) vs Purdue
MARYLAND (+19) vs Texas
Teaser (6 points)
UNC (-6.5/-12.5) vs Cal
SOUTH CAROLINA (+11/+5) vs NC State
LOVE WVU, Michigan and Louisville this week. Lamar Jackson may have a million yards by halftime against Purdue. UNC rolls Cal but the SC-NC State game could be a tough one. Rolling with the Gamecocks though. Good luck this week. We all need it.
