NJ.com – Wawa says their internal investigation of a customer’s video of what appears to be maggots crawling out of a cheesesteak he bought at the new Ewing store shows no evidence to support the video’s claims.
In a more complete statement about the incident, Wawa says:
“Outside of this single, unauthenticated video, our robust internal investigation shows there is no evidence that substantiates the claims made in the video. In fact, we believe the circumstances described in the video are highly unlikely, if not impossible to occur in our store environment.”
The company, though, says they take every complaint seriously and the Ewing incident is undergoing “our detailed authentication and assessment process.”
The man who bought the cheesesteak, 22-year-old Chris Garcia, said he stopped at the Ewing Wawa recently on the way from work at Six Flags Great Adventure, according to a report on NJ101.5 FM.
When he got home, he found the steak sandwich contained two maggots. He said he saw the buffalo sauce and ranch dressing “moving,” the report said. His mother then shot a video of the bugs.
Garcia then went to the hospital to get checked.
Attempts to reach Garcia Wednesday were not successful.
Daaanngggggg Wawa coming with the clap back. I have been down on Wawa lately because I remember the glory days before the expanded menus and touch screens when it was strictly about the quality of the ingredients. But I never had problems with the cleanliness and what not when it comes to the south jersey staple so I was a tad skeptical of my man’s story. To quote a classic poet “MMMMMMMMmmmmM ooooooomyyyGOD”
