Grubbin Sports College Football Week 5 Preview

September is down and there are three things we know for sure. Bama is LEGIT, Mississippi State is a fraud and Butch Jones should just pack his bags now.

Lets start with the SEC and the biggest surprise outside of what I just mentioned which is that Troy came into Coach O’s house and slapped the gumbo right outta his mouth. Coach O might speak the cajun language but if he doesn’t get his shit together then he is just gonna be another body in the swamp. He needs to head to momma’s house and sign Bobby or else he could be dunzo sooner than later.

Bama did what Bama does and that was punish whoever walks into their path. Ole Saint Nick doesn’t have time for the regular season. Just advance them to the playoff and let’s be done with it already. Then there’s the Vols which means I have to pile on Butch Jones yet again which I don’t really want to do but when you lose 41-0 at home its hard not to. I’m honestly just tired of his face at this point.

Mississippi State gone done me dirty again. They SMASH LSU and then drop two stinkers back to back. Your boy is officially done with this squad.

There were two big night games this week and one disappointed as Clemson rolled Virginia Tech but the Friday night banger didn’t. The fighting Leach’s held down their home turf and made Sam Darnold look pedestrian. Mike Leach looks to finally have a real defense that can hang with the big boys and the Coug’s are officially here. Must watch TV each week for them. Now off to this week….

                  Game Of The Week

8 TCU (-13.5) vs 23 West Virginia

The Big 12 is The Wild West and this looks like a mighty fine shootout in the making. Will Grier keeps it close but TCU gets a big stop at the end and wins by 4. Is Kenny Trill actually a good QB? This might be the proof we need.

                      Best Of The Rest
*Note I was too lazy to write this blog by Thursday so there are no other top 25 battles to cover since Louisville and NC State play Thursday night and there’s only 20 minutes to kickoff as I type this.

21 Florida (-2.5) vs LSU

Call me crazy but I am taking the Tigers in this one purely because of how much heat was on my man Ed this weekend. He finds a way to get the boys in gear and knocks off the Gators. If they bench Etling early they may have a chance.

13 Miami (-3) vs Florida State

This game was bumped back by Irma and should be a good/ugly game. I’m not impressed by either offense right now so points will be low and the Noles grab another one from Miami. Blackman makes a play at the end to win by 3.

7 Michigan (-10.5) vs Michigan State

Love watching this game every year and with O’Korn starting I see it being close until the end. Sparty loses by 10 and covers but doesn’t have enough offense to get past Michigan. Khakis win again.

              Wake Up The Echo’s
21 Notre Dame (-14.5) vs UNC

The Tar Heels have been decimated by injuries and their season is going downhill fast. If Wimbush was fully healthy I would say this game is a 20 pointer but with him still a game time decision and with his running ability being his main threat he probably won’t go all game. It is still an Irish victory but I will only go by 10.

Welcome to:

                   A Mouthful Of Turds

Which were my picks last week. 1-4 isn’t going to get it done folks and that’s on me. We are at 12-12-1 on the season so this week is big. Okie State and Mississippi State really disappointed me but I was actually glad to see the Coug’s take down USC so I will eat that loss any week. The Hokies just aren’t there yet.

                    Against The Spread
WEST VIRGINIA (+13.5) vs TCU
WASHINGTON STATE (-2.5) vs Oregon
AUBURN (-22) vs Ole Miss
MARYLAND (+31) vs Ohio State

                      Teaser – 6 Points
MICHIGAN STATE (+16.5/+10.5) vs Michigan
COLORADO (-.5/-6.5) vs Arizona

Pound Wazzu if you can this week. If Herbert was playing I may go the other way but with him out the Cougs are gonna FEAST. I like my teaser but the others are toss ups. Good luck this week folks.
