foodandwine.com – The late night junk food craving is an experience most humans can relate to. In fact, it is so central to our lives that it is necessary to know which fast food places are open in your neighborhood, in case you need to ask the Uber driver to swing by on the way home from a night out. Maybe you’ve had a few beers and need something greasy to soak up the alcohol. Maybe you need to refuel after hours of dancing under pulsing strobe lights. Or maybe you just skipped regular dinner and really need that French fryfix. Whatever the reason, the people need to know the best places to hit up for a late night meal. Luckily for us, InMarket’s data team ranked the top five spots to get your fast food fix after midnight.
The company ranked the chains based on the number of visits between the hours of 12 a.m. and 4 a.m. Some fixtures of the fast food scene made the list, including White Castle (which recently launched nationwide delivery through Grubhub) and Jack in the Box. Still others fall into the fast casual, sit-down dining category, and are well known for their late-night scene, like Waffle House which is always open, sometimes even during a hurricane, and Denny’s. Surprisingly, no pizza places (the ultimate drunk dinner) made the top five list.
In case you’re curious, one poll conducted late last year found that most Americans consider Wendy’s to be their favorite fast food chain, while the American Customer Satisfication Index had different results, naming Chick-fil-A as America’s favorite. When you’re cruising for a burger, scrambled eggs, or a stack of pancakes after midnight, though, chances are you aren’t being too picky about what you want to eat.
Here’s the list in full, to keep in mind the next time you’re hungry after dark:
- Waffle House
- White Castle
- Jack in the Box
This isn’t a bad list but definitely missing the bubble gut late night phenom that is TBell, it’s always good in the clutch after a night of bad decisions.
