bizjournals.com – The Yellowhammer State is well-known for its white barbecue sauce, Conecuh sausage and friend green tomatoes. But it is less well-known for another culinary feat: its number of fast food restaurants.
Alabama ranks as the top state with the most fast food joints per capita in the country. Web data company Datafiniti found there are 6.3 such restaurants for every 10,000 Alabamians in the state.
Alabama is joined in the top 10 by Tennessee and Georgia. Florida ranks in the No. 38 spot and Mississippi appears even lower at No. 48.
At 4.4 fast food restaurants per 10,000 residents, the Southeast as a region actually came in slightly behind the Central region with 4.5.
When it comes to cities, Atlanta ranks No. 6 overall.
Datafit also ranked the largest fast food restaurant chains. The top five are Subway, McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.
Ehhhh I mean I’ve seen the Alabama crowd shots and yeaaa it all sort of makes sense. Plus the only way they can keep getting those grown ass men passing for college athletes, gotta be eating GOOD!
