News – “Are Pop-Tarts Ravioli?”

barstoolsports.com – For about a week I’ve seen this picture floating around the ole internet. Instagram. Twitter. Facebook. It’s popping up all over the joint. At first, I dismissed it.

I found myself driving around town thinkin about it.

Is a pop-tart ravioli?

I kinda think it is.

Now, ravioli is, lest we forget, small pasta envelopes containing ground meat, cheese, or vegetables. But you could easily make the argument that dessert ravioli is a thing and pop-tarts would be a force in that sub-category.

“But Chaps. Pop-tarts arent pasta.”

But isn’t pasta just some sort of dough? It is, right?

“Well Chaps, pasta is actually a dish originally from Italy consisting of dough made from durum wheat and water, extruded or stamped into various shapes and typically cooked in boiling water. In fact, pasta comes from the late 19th century from Italian and literally means paste. The dry nature of a pop-tart would disqualify it from being a pasta. Pastry. Pasta. Probably where the confusion comes from.”

Huh. Got proved wrong on my own blog. Incredible. Credit to me for being open though.


I’m gonna give this one a hard “no”, and I’m not even gonna consider the other side’s argument. I mean, if pop tarts are ravioli because they’re filled with sauce, then I, Jamiel “The Sauce” Seebadri, am also a ravioli. And that my friends, is preposterous.
