wesh.com – SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. —An interesting message can be seen outside a Chick-fil-A off State Road 436 in Seminole County.
“I didn’t think he’d actually do it. I didn’t think he’d follow through,” said Tanner Waters, who works at the restaurant.
Tanner said it all started when he was stressing out about senior prom.
“I’m like, ‘I don’t know how to find a prom date.’ And he’s like, ‘OK, I got you, I can help you. I’m going to put your name up on the marquee,'” Tanner said.
The next thing he knew, he saw this message written on the marquee: “Tanner needs a prom date. Details inside.”
“My manager, Mikey, sent me a picture of it. I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, he followed through,'” Tanner said.
The employees even printed off pictures of Tanner and showed them to inquiring customers.
“I started having people come through the drive-through. I started having people offer their daughters up,” he said.
The good news: it worked.
“I’ve got multiple options, and I’m narrowing it down. I think I know who I’m going to take,” Tanner said.
He never thought a sign outside Chick-fil-A would land him a date, or make him famous.
“It’s gone nationwide. I have people calling me from Hollywood, like, I think it’s crazy,” Tanner said.
Yes! I asked for a follow up in the blog I did when this story first came across my computer and the internet gods delivered. Look at my man Tanner going from dateless with 0 women courting him to having hella options and even getting Hollywood phone calls. Shoutout to you Tanner (waits for the headline to drop about Tanner having very very problematic tweets)
