The Beer Under the Big Top will be held on June 2nd, 2018 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in Philadelphia, PA. we had the opportunity to attend their last event in March and are excited that they will be hosting another event this summer. This event will showcase over 150 beer tastings, some of Philly’s best food trucks, circus theme performances, and outdoor party games. It’s an event that you don’t want to miss.

Welcome to the greatest fest on earth!  Beer Under The Big Top returns to The Navy Yard in Philadelphia on June 2nd for another star-studded and oh so spectacular beer festival.  Get ready for the largest, most magnificent and utterly stupendous beer event you have ever been to. More than 150 brews from local and national craft breweries will be sampled…Feast your eyes upon the main stage where contortionists, sword swallowers, jugglers and more will turn an ordinary Saturday afternoon into a day that will long be remembered.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT TO GET INTO THE SHOW?

No one under the age of 21 will be allowed entrance in the festival! This includes designated drivers who must also be at least 21 years of age. NO children, toddlers, infants, strollers, or pets are permitted. No one will be admitted without a valid photo ID (no exceptions). Proper identification is the responsibility of the attendee. Failure to present proper, valid photo identification (driver’s license or passport) will result in denial of entry with no refund offered.

WHERE IS THE NAVY YARD LOCATED?

The Navy Yard is located on South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19112. It is recommended that you arrive via public transportation. If you do drive, there is parking in the Navy Yard. Click here for directions

HOW DO I GET TO THE NAVY YARD?

Complimentary bus shuttle service will be available to festival attendees from the Broad & Pattison SEPTA station to the The Navy Yard venue. Shuttles from Broad & Pattison will begin at 11:00 AM and run continuously throughout the day. Click here for directions

IS THE EVENT INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?

The event will be held outdoors on the Marine Parade Grounds of the The Navy Yard under tents. The event will take place rain or shine. All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be given.

WHAT DOES ADMISSION INCLUDE?

VIP Admission includes a souvenir 5oz tasting glass with a two ounce pour line and an extra hour to enjoy the festival before the General Admission ticketholders enter. VIP attendees will also have access to special VIP beers that are poured only during this additional hour and access to VIP only restrooms. General Admission includes a souvenir five oz. taster with a two ounce pour line and beer tastings during the General Admission session.

WILL FOOD BE AVAILABLE?

There will be food sold at the event. Food trucks will offer a variety of options from which to choose. Food is not included with the price of admission. Outside food not permitted.

HOW DOES THE DESIGNATED DRIVER TICKET WORK?

A designated driver ticket is available for $12. Designated drivers do NOT receive a tasting glass. They are able to enjoy all the activities of the expo except they are not allowed to drink any beer. Any designated driver who is seen drinking will be escorted out immediately.

ARE PRETZEL NECKLACES PERMITTED?

Yes, but no other outside food is permitted.

I HAVE A TICKET FOR THE GA SESSION, CAN I USE IT TO GO TO THE VIP SESSION INSTEAD?

No, you are only permitted to use the ticket for the session you purchased. The scanners are programmed with the ticket number and will reject your ticket.

WHAT HOTELS ARE IN THE AREA?

IS THERE PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE VENUE?

Yes, there is limited parking at the venue. We encourage attendees to use mass transit.

ARE CHILDREN OR PETS PERMITTED TO ATTEND?

For your own safety, NO children, toddlers, infants, strollers or pets, other than service dogs, are permitted. If turned away, the admission ticket for the caregiver will not be refunded.

IS SMOKING PERMITTED AT THE VENUE?

Smoking is permitted except under tents.

IS THE EVENT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Yes, the event takes place outdoors on a grass field under tents.

CAN I BRING LAWN CHAIRS TO THE FESTIVAL?

Yes, lawn chairs are permitted in the festival area. There will also be tables and chairs placed throughout the tented areas (and outdoors weather permitting) for your convenience.

WHAT ITEMS ARE PROHIBITED?

Starfish Junction Productions is dedicated to the safety and security of ALL attendees, exhibitors, staffers, and guests. Please use common sense and remember that what seems harmless to you may appear like a threat to someone else. All attendees must adhere to show rules, are subject to search upon entering the event, and are prohibited from bringing in the following items:

· outside alcohol, glass bottles, cans, outside food/beverages, metal water bottles
· weapons (i.e. knives, pepper spray, stun-guns, any concealed weapons, firearms, etc.), illegal drugs, chemicals, fireworks, smoke bombs
· unapproved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements, etc.

Smoking (including the use of e-cigarettes or vape pens) is prohibited under tents.

Infants/Children/Strollers…No one under 21 will be admitted. Valid photo ID is required for entry.
No pets are permitted at the event (unless they are service dogs with accredited tags/paperwork)

Event management reserves the right to handle each occurrence on a case by case basis. Depending on the item, the guest may either be asked to remove the item from the facility or dispose of the item, or may be ejected from the facility.

Working with the Philly Mobile Food Association, we’ve selected a great variety of food trucks for Beer Under The Big Top.  Attendees can buy and enjoy some great local “street food” from Philly’s most popular and award-winning food trucks!

CIRCUS-THEMED BEER FEST KICKS OFF PHILLY BEER WEEK Beer Under the Big Top Returns to Philly, June 2

PHILADELPHIA, PA—April 12, 2018.  Starfish Junction Productions, producer of the award-winning Philly Craft Beer Festival, selected as one of the “Top Ten Beer Festivals in America” by Forbes Traveler and awarded the “Top Ten Beer Festivals in U.S.” distinction by USA Today in 2017, brings back the circus-themed beer festival to The Navy Yard this summer.  The biggest names in craft brewing will gather on Saturday, June 2, 2018 for what promises to be the summer’s best beer fest.  Beer Under The Big Top will feature a variety of circus act performances, turning an ordinary Saturday afternoon into a day that will long be remembered. “This is going to be our best show yet,” said Andy Calimano, owner of Starfish Junction, producer of the event.  “We can’t think of a better way to kick off Philly Beer Week than with this year’s star-studded lineup of breweries presented in a circus-themed event.  Everyone loves a theme party and this will be the best event we’ve ever thrown.  Sword swallowers and stilt walkers will mingle among the local and national craft breweries to deliver a fun-filled event for the beer lovers of Philadelphia,” added Calimano.

150+ Beers for Sampling & Sideshow Performances

This beer tasting extravaganza will feature an incredible variety of craft beers from the local Philly market, from across the U.S., and from around the globe.  With over 150 beers to sample, there is sure to be something to please everyone.  Supporting the circus theme, the Squidling Brothers return with a troupe of circus freak show performers and, new this year, attendees will enjoy the height-defying aerial acts of Philadelphia’s Ethos Physical Theatre Company.  Stilt walkers, jugglers, balloon artists, and other special performers will add to the day’s festivities.  Food will be available for sale from a variety of Philly’s best food trucks.

The event will help raise funds for the Philadelphia Committee to Benefit the Children (CBC), a local charity that provides resources for treatment, care and family support to benefit area children with cancer, leukemia and serious blood disorders.  The CBC will be conducting a toiletry drive for local needy families in their network.  Attendees are encouraged to bring personal care items like soap, deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, and sunscreen.

Beer Under the Big Top will have two sessions:  VIP 12:30-5:00pm and General Admission 1:30-5:00pm.  The VIP session will give VIP ticketholders an additional hour at the festival, more intimate access to brewers, and the ability to try rare and sought-after beers that are only being poured during this VIP bonus hour.  VIP tickets are $75 each. General Admission tickets are $50 each when purchased online in advance, $60 on event day if tickets remain.  Designated Driver tickets are $12 each. Tickets are on sale now at www.BeerUnderTheBigTop.com.  Another sell-out is expected.  Complimentary shuttle bus service is offered to The Navy Yard from the local SEPTA station.
