The 4th Annual Pour the Core Brooklyn: A Hard Cider Festival will be held on June 9th, 2018 at the Brooklyn Expo Center in Brooklyn, NY. We had the opportunity to attend their Baltimore event and highly recommend it. This event will showcase two samplings of 75 different hard ciders

Love apples? Then, drink apples! Gather with fellow apple enthusiasts, hard cider aficionados, fermentation zealots, and craft beverage fanatics at Brooklyn’s premier hard cider festival, Pour The Core: Brooklyn.
At Pour The Core: Brooklyn, you and your friends will gather in Brooklyn’s trendy and crafty Greenpoint neighborhood and be showcased to the finest locally-produced and internationally-sourced ciders – more than 75 styles produced by over 40 different cider makers! The event will feature local favorites like Big Apple Hard Cider and Original Sin; best-selling US brands like Woodchuck Hard Cider and Angry Orchard; and a variety of imported ciders and perries from Spain, England and elsewhere, like Strongbow.
So get your sunglasses ready and kick off summer with cider and local grub from the city’s favorite food trucks! The event will take place rain or shine (no refunds).
There will be free seminars for ticketholders about cider, the making of cider, and the enjoyment of cider. The event will also help raise funds for KiDS NEED MoRE. Visit the charity page to find out more about this great organization.
Tickets & Sessions:
A SELL-OUT IS EXPECTED so buy your tickets early! Once the event sells out, no additional tickets will be available.
VIP runs from 1:30pm – 2:30pm and GA runs from 2:30pm – 6:00pm.
VIP tickets are $60+ tax/fee each when purchased online in advance of the event. If tickets still remain, they will be $75 on event day at the door (cash only). GA tickets are $45+ tax/fee each when purchased online in advance of the event. If tickets still remain, they will be $55 on event day at the door (cash only).
Designated driver (DD) tickets are also available. GA designated driver tickets are $12 +tax/fees but VIP designated drivers are $15 +tax/fees. VIP DD ticketholders receive an extra hour in the event and access to VIP seating. No DD is permitted to drink any alcohol. DDs do not receive a tasting cup but will receive bottled water. Any DD seen drinking will be removed from the festival immediately. DDs, like all attendees, must be 21+ and present valid photo ID for entry.
Everyone who purchases a ticket will get in. No tickets will be sold once the event sells out. We have limited the number of attendees to ensure that everyone who purchases a ticket will be able to sample the ciders they want and move around with ease. There will be plenty of water and food available for purchase.
No one under the age of 21 will be allowed into the event. This includes designated drivers who must also be 21 years or older in age. No children, toddlers, infants, strollers, or pets are permitted. No one will be admitted without valid photo ID (no exceptions)! Proper identification is the responsibility of the attendee. Failure to present proper, valid photo identification (license or passport) will result in denial of entry with no refund offered.

The festival is an indoor event but there will be food trucks and outdoor seating located outside of the venue.
Each general admission ticket includes a souvenir tasting cup and the freedom to enjoy samples from any participating cidermaker. Attendance at event seminars is also included. VIP Admission includes sampling and seminars just like general admission ticketholders but VIP attendees also receive an additional hour of sampling from 1:30pm-2:30pm, receive a tasting cup made of glass, have private seating, and access to special tastings available only in the VIP area. VIP Designated Driver ticketholders receive an extra hour in the event and access to VIP seating compared to GA designated drivers. However, no DD is permitted to drink any alcohol. DDs do not receive a tasting cup but will receive bottled water.
Yes, food is available for purchase. It is not included in the price of admission.
A general admission designated driver ticket is $12.00 and a VIP designated driver ticket is $15.00. All designated drivers receive bottled water but VIP designated drivers are allowed into the event an hour earlier beginning a 1:30pm and have access to the VIP seating area. No designated driver is permitted to sample any alcoholic beverages at the festival. Designated drivers do NOT receive a tasting cup. Any designated driver who is seen drinking at the festival will be escorted out immediately. Designated drivers must be 21+ and present valid photo ID for entry.
Yes, the event will have ambient music played.
No outside food or beverages will be permitted.
There is no parking on site at the venue. Mass transportation or car service (such as Uber) is recommended. There are limited parking garages about 15 minutes away (by foot). Street parking is available.
Yes, the following are hotels in the area. However, neither Pour the Core nor its producers are affiliated with any hotel or offer any discounted room rates. Starfish Junction Productions is dedicated to the safety and security of ALL attendees, exhibitors, staffers, and guests. Please use common sense and remember that what seems harmless to you may appear like a threat to someone else. All attendees must adhere to show rules, are subject to search upon entering the event, and are prohibited from bringing in the following items:
· outside alcohol, glass bottles, cans, outside food/beverages, metal water bottles
· weapons (i.e. knives, pepper spray, stun-guns, any concealed weapons, firearms, etc.), illegal drugs, chemicals, fireworks, smoke bombs
· unapproved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements, etc.

By Train (recommended)
From the G-Train (green line) at the Greenpoint Avenue MTA station:
- Take the G-Train to the Greenpoint Avenue station and walk west on Greenpoint Avenue to Franklin Street.
- Turn south (left) on to Franklin Street and continue to the corner of Noble and Franklin.
- Make a right down Noble for the expo center entrance.
From the G-Train (green line) at the Nassau Avenue MTA station:
- Walk north on Manhattan Avenue turn west (left) onto Noble.
- Continue on Noble, past Franklin, for the expo center entrance.
From the L-Train (grey line):
- Walk west on Bedford to Kent Avenue.
- At Kent, turn north (right) and continue on Kent until it turns into Franklin Street and bisects Noble.
- At Noble, make a left to follow the street to the expo center entrance.

- The closest CitiBike bike return is located at the Wythe Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue corner.
By the East River Ferry
- The East River Ferry has two terminals in Manhattan (Wall Street/Pier 11 and East 34th Street/Midtown) that stop at India Street/Greenpoint. The India Street/Greenpoint terminal services both northbound and southbound ferry routes, and is only six blocks north of the expo center.

In 1990, a group of concerned parents created a camping experience for their children diagnosed with cancer and their siblings called Camp Adventure. Camp Adventure now serves the East Coast and tri-state area remaining one of the only camps of its kind to serve child cancer patients and their siblings.
In 2013, a dedicated group of Camp Adventure volunteers began KiDS NEED MoRE (Motivational Recovery Environments, Inc.) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to parent the camp and ensure its longevity.
KiDS NEED MoRE believes that people and families coping with life-threatening illness and trauma deserve to do more than just survive and need opportunities to enjoy normal day-to-day activities. For 24 years, through the historic Camp Adventure program, volunteers have provided fun activities that foster peer relationships, independence and respite. The mantra is… fun heals!
KiDS NEED MoRE programs and activities are designed to reunite siblings and allow parents time for respite. The organization continues to host camping programs and retreats like Camp Adventure but also hosts community events and activities including Sweet 16s, plus mentoring and college preparation through More U.

(BROOKLYN, NY. April 11, 2018) – The 4th Annual Pour the Core: A Hard Cider Festival is coming back to the Brooklyn Expo Center on Saturday, June 9, 2018 for what promoters promise to be the “best cider fest yet.” Pour the Core will offer festival goers over 75 different hard ciders for sampling. The event will offer two sessions: 1) VIP 1:30pm to 6:00pm and 2) General Admission (GA) 2:30pm-6:00pm, the VIP session offering several advantages, among them: access to VIP only seating area and the ability to try special limited-release ciders being poured only during the VIP bonus hour. A pay-one-price ticket allows attendees to enjoy refreshing and delicious hard cider samples from local, national and international cider producers. Consumers continue to show their love of hard cider and continue to explore the cider category looking for new and innovative styles and flavors. “We’ve seen festival attendance numbers increase year-to-year, not just here in Brooklyn, but in Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, and Long Island where we also host Pour The Core festivals,” said Kristyn Dolan, event manager at Starfish Junction, producers of the Pour the Core festival franchise. “We can’t wait to be back in Brooklyn, I think this will be our best cider fest yet.”
A recent Forbes article focusing on cider growth and consumption by contributor Tara Nurin states, “four percent of legal drinkers cite cider as their boozy beverage of choice, compared to 1% a decade ago. Cider controls .4% of the alcoholic beverage category – a small but mighty number when you consider that it started at .06% a decade-and-a-half ago.” Pour the Core’s overwhelming popularity is based on delivering a great attendee experience—offering a great variety of ciders to sample plus entertaining and educational seminars about cider production and enjoyment. A favorite activity among the festival goers is the fun and extremely competitive Cider Donut Eating Contest, sponsored in part by Hard Cider News. Ticketholders sign-up online to compete, the winner is the person who can eat a donut hung from a string in the fastest time without the use of their hands. The winner gets a prize package valued at over $300.
Taking special care to support local producers, the event will showcase many hometown and regional favorites, plus a special selection of national and international cideries that are stand-outs for their unique and tasty production. New York is the second largest apple producing state in the U.S. (Washington state holds top spot) and “we grow the highest quality, best tasting apples anywhere” boasts The New York Apple Association. The Brooklyn Expo Center (72 Noble Street, Brooklyn, NY 11222) is located in the thriving and trendy Greenpoint section of Brooklyn and is easily accessible by car, the B32 bus, the East River Water Taxi, or the G-train.
