I’ve tried this twice now after hearing the commercial multiple times on various podcasts and on television. Not gonna lie, it’s not bad…above average even. The first time I tried it (sandwich or a burger?) out I got the original. According to the website the burger consists more than 1/2 lbs. of savory flame-grilled 100% beef, melted American cheese, thick cut bacon, freshly sliced onions & our creamy signature sauce all on a soft sourdough bun. The first thing I noticed was how massive it was, so at least you’re getting some bang for your buck while you clog those arteries. Now in the picture it looks like the sourdough bread is toasted to perfection, this is my biggest complaint…it was soggy as hell. I know it says soft sourdough in the description but SHEESH. Like not even lightly toasted and it’s a shame because the overall flavor and concept was good, especially for a fast food burger. The bread reminded me of the classic Eddie Murphy McDonald’s joke.
On my way home from Boston from Jay’s bachelor party we stopped at BK and in desperate need of sustenance to cure my hangover I tried the Bacon & Swiss Sourdough King. It’s essentially the same thing but here’s the ingredients direct from BK’s website, it features two savory flame-grilled beef patties totaling more than 1/2 lb. of beef, topped with 3 half – strips of thick-cut smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, tomatoes and creamy bacon flavored sauce all on our toasted sourdough bread. Still massive and flavorful, I actually had to give half to Big Al but that bread sort of turns it into a dough ball at a certain point. Overall both sandwiches are delicious though and definitely perfect hangover fuel. I’d give them a 7 out of 10.
Real pics off of Yelp cause I definitely forgot to take some…one guy said “dude I had to toast the bread myself cause this is bullshit” lol
