News – “Epic McDonald’s prank goes viral as Texas student’s fake ‘Asians’ ad remains hanging over 50 days”

usatoday.com – PEARLAND, Texas — A couple of friends in Texas are going viral for a prank they pulled at a McDonald’s.

“We were eating McDonald’s one day and we looked around and saw there were posters around that didn’t have any Asians,” explained Jevh Maravilla, a University of Texas student. “They had other races but no Asians so we felt like it was our duty to put ourselves up there.”

Maravilla and his friend Christian Toledo, took a picture of themselves holding a McDonalds burger and fries, then added the logo and other features to make the it look like the others hung around a Pearland, Texas, restaurant.

They then ordered a giant poster to their home and planned their prank.

Maravilla found an old McDonald’s shirt at Goodwill for $7 and dressed up as an employee.

On July 13, with the help of some other friends, the duo snuck the poster into the restaurant and tacked it up when staff wasn’t looking.

On Sunday night, Maravilla tweeted about the prank and in 24-hours, it has gone viral with more than 100,000 retweets and 400,000 likes.

As of Tuesday morning, Maravilla told USA TODAY the advertisement was still hanging in the restaurant.

So far, McDonald’s has not responded to a request for a statement but the friends have high hopes for their response.

“I kind of hope they will ask us to be representative models for them,” said Maravilla, “Like, for Asian men. That would be insane if they did that! It would be, like, a dream come true.”

Hey sometimes a prank is a prank but there are times when one can leave you in awe of how was this done. This one, is for the marbles. One that’s done so elaborate that the world needs to know all about it. Why not take a stand, and have a good meaning behind a “prank”. Sometimes it doesn’t have to involve tricking someone, or inflicting pain. In this instance this prank created change.

These two University of Texas students who are Asian took a look around in their local McDonald’s and found something was missing…. ads everywhere but, none with any Asians. So in great fashion they took it amounts themselves to take a picture of them holding McDonald’s food and made it look like the other ads hanging in there and voila!!!!! Their job is done.. what’s missing now? Nothing, it’s all complete in their eyes and that right there is what you call a job well done.

This so called prank was well executed, well planned and well done. It garnered them to go viral with hundreds of thousands of retweets and well over 400 thousand likes and that was within a 24 hr period. Again a job well done! I find this really cool, I believe that if something is within your heart and you really want it, GO GET IT! And that is exactly what these two young men did they went after it and made it happen. So, don’t be afraid to make a change even if it calls for a simple and yet “elaborate PRANK” to be made to do so! Go get it, and MAKE A CHANGE!!! I stand and salute you two!
