I discovered Louie G’s from word of mouth and let me tell you something…it might be the best food related suggestion someones given me in the past 10 years. I could have written this review 2 months ago honestly but I wanted to wait until I got a chance to explore the menu some. Every single item I’ve tried has been nothing short of elite. Every. Single.Item. Louie G’s is the epitome of a family run mom and pop shop, the moment you walk in the door you’re greeted by the delicious aroma of all the fresh homemade ingredients and the super friendly staff (Louie’s daughter Gianna is usually working the register and phones). When you come for a Louie G’s sandwich make sure you bring that appetite with you because these sandwiches are the size of a high school football. I actually started doing curls with them because they had so much weight to ’em.
The first thing I tried was the cheesesteak because that’s the main thing I people told me about, well that and the Atlantic City rolls. Buddy, let me tell you something….after one bite I knew this was sent from the Beefy Heavens by Cheesesteak Zeus himself. I kid you not, I had to place this sucka down, close my eyes and just enjoy the flavor. I have no idea what Mr. G seasoned this steak with but I definitely never tasted a cheesesteak like this one before, it automatically skyrocketed into my Top 5 and it isn’t 5. Using the Atlantic City seeded and non seeded rolls for their sandwiches is a major key, cause as we all know the bread makes a good sandwich great….can’t be out here with some hard ass rolls, you’ll chip a tooth just trying to get a bite.
Here’s the kicker, the cheesesteak was a 9.4 out of 10 in my book (only tried it twice so I think I need one more go at it before I give it a perfect score) but the hot roast beef?! “Hoooolylyyyyyyyy shit” about sums it up. I’m no expert when it comes to these things, not by a long shot but I know flavor and immediately understood why it was dubbed famous. Forget sandwiches this was one of the best things I’ve tried in a long long time, period. Again I don’t know what kind of wizadry Lou is working in the kitchen on that grill but the gravy and the seasoning are unlike any other I’ve had. And that famous roast pork with broccoli rabbe! *Italian chef kiss*, nothing short of spectacular.
Since discovering Louie G’s I’ve tried the Meatball sandwich (8.1/10), the chicken cheesesteak (8.8/10), the buffalo chicken cheesesteak (9.0/10), the hot roast beef (10/10), the roast pork and broccoli rabbe (10/10) and their seasoned fries…..boy oh boy those seasoned fries. They use potato wedges and use a three step process when it comes to their fries….they were cooked and seasoned (again I have no idea what he’s using but it’s banging) to perfection. Do I really need to say anymore? I look forward to keep running down the menu until I’ve tried everything and I’ll update this post as I do. If you’re in the Sewell / Washington Twp. area and need to bust a grub I would recommend hitting up Louie G’s, you won’t regret it and that’s a guarantee.
