Well reliving the childhood through movies could either go great or it could turn into a huge disappointment. I was extremely excited to see “THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS”, every since seeing the trailers. Seeing how the magic could be brought back to life with new astonishing visual effects, but….. As always, the trailer depicted a completely different movie. It started off on the right foot but took a turn for the worse, it reminded me of the mess that was Snow white and the huntsman in such aspects. Super boring, little to no action, anti climatic and there was zero character development… WOW!! But, The visuals were more than amazing at least. All in all, I was incredibly bored.
When you’re highly anticipating a timely classic to come back to life you hope every aspect is done correctly. They did great with the cast and score but direction was horrible. Two thumbs down to director Lasse Hallström who created some films of beauty in the past such as (Chocolat, and dear john) to name a few, how did you get it wrong here?? It’s pretty, has a pretty nice atmosphere and setting, but that’s mostly all that’s good. It was extremely predictable and formulaic, and again not to mention very boring… The highlights of the movie are when Helen Mirren and or Morgan Freeman are on screen, but these are a few short scenes and further prove how mediocre this movie otherwise is.
I’m giving this movie a 3.3 you better be careful to eat those burgers.. watch the cook who’s cooking them lol! This movie is mediocre at best.. (forewarned) give it a go for yourself, maybe the kids will love it. At least the visual effects are amazing and the music is incredible! Come back to me THE MOVIE MAN and let me know your thoughts.
